The Piney Creek Weasels, a group based in Northern California, joins Skeeter and the Skidmarks and Wayne Henderson in our "old-time" stable. The Weasels, headed by founder Rick Abrams on clawhammer banjo, and with Hugh Hoeger on guitar, Eric Anderson on fiddle and Rocky Rioux on bass, are regarded as one of the nation's premier old-time bands. Formed in 1987, the Weasels feature a high energy old-timey sound that combines highly entertaining arrangements with tight harmony and dynamic musicianship. This album presents a combination of a couple of originals penned by Rick and Eric with several obscure tunes and a few well-known favorites.
